MIYAO DYNASTY
‘There’s no way these two scrawny ‘boys’ could be jiu jitsu competitors, is there?’ That was our initial thought when laying eyes on Joao and Paulo Miyao for the first time. They say first impressions count for a lot, but it seems the ‘Miyao Bros’ are an enigma, in more ways than one.
Since our first introduction back in 2011, we’ve seen a whirlwind four years and been witness to the rise of two of the most talented, dedicated, controversial and – let’s face it – odd jiu jitsu athletes to arrive in the spotlight. Nobody has competed as regularly, applied such commitment or divided opinion so prominently as the Miyao Bros. Read all about the rise of Joao and Paulo inside issue 21.
