October 7, 2013 – The War Tribe Gear team was in Austin, TX this past weekend covering Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and no gi grappling with the 2013 Austin Open happening at the Wilhelmina Delco Center in North Austin. It was a fun and competitive tournament with plenty of action happening all around. Always a fun time when it comes to the BJJ scene here in Texas!

Representing the War Tribe Gear sponsored contingent at this tournament was Killeen, TX based BJJ black belt Jarrod Clontz. If you’re unfamiliar with Jarrod’s story, it is pretty inspirational considering he’s overcome some pretty tough demons (drug addiction, etc.) from his past life to become a model of healthy living and a pillar to his community, leading the team and running American Fight Company while also mentoring some of the soldiers coming out Fort Hood as part of their Army Combatives team. Beyond all that and Jarrod Clontz is also one of the busiest black belt competitors in Texas, competing all around the state on a regular basis. His accolades include a 2009 No Gi World Championship gold medal finish. This past weekend, Jarrod added a silver medal finish in the absolute division of the 2013 Austin Open to his medal cabinet as well!

Look for more out of Jarrod Clontz in the near future as he represents War Tribe Gear in even more BJJ tournaments all around the state and also at this year’s 2013 IBJJF No Gi World Championships in Long Beach, CA coming up this November!
