UFC 163 is in the books from the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro this evening.
The top of the card was marred by some anticlimactic finishes, as happens sometimes in MMA.
The main event bout between champion Jose Aldo and challenger “Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung was turning into a good one in the championship rounds but a shoulder injury to Zombie in the fourth (shoulder out of socket) was all Aldo needed to capitalize on to seal the victory before any chance of a rally took place.
Meanwhile in the co-main event, Phil Davis was able to take the decision from Lyoto Machida in his home country by virtue of some timely takedowns. Neither man did much to conclusively take this one but the prevailing opinion from the fans seem to be that “The Dragon” did enough to win, however the judges thought otherwise.
