Anyone who has trained judo during their martial arts career will no doubt agree that it's an extremely tough sport, with the athletes themselves possessing freakish strength and vice-like grips. Despite these facts, you will struggle to find too many judokas making waves in the top-level MMA circuit at the moment.

Ronda Rousey, a former member of the US national judo team and bronze medallist from the 2008 Beijing Olympic games , seems to have found the solution for integrating her fighting style into the realm of the 4oz glove. Her MMA highlight reel is a celebration of high flying hip throws and perfectly timed foot sweeps, but also – more notably – perfect application of 'juji gatame', otherwise known as an armlock. With all seven of her professional fights (as well as three amateur bouts) ending via armlock submission, it seems that no-one has an answer to the UFC poster girl's years of hardened judo expertise.

Ronda said: "My mom was known for her armlocks and she would finish like 90% of her fights that way. She showed me how to do them when I was a little kid, so I've pretty much been practising them since I could walk." Check out the below examples of Ronda's juji gatame from her days as US national team judoka.
