As a fellow jiu jitsu student I have been shocked and disturbed by the continuing horrible revelations surrounding Lloyd Irvin that are being reported on an almost daily basis online.

As the Editor of Jiu Jitsu Style magazine I feel just the same. I take responsibility for planning each issue of JJS, which, as a bi-monthly publication, can never reflect the current status of any breaking story. Issue 13 was prepared and sent to press on February 21st and we do not have the opportunity or resources to make any amendments to content after that date. Our interviews with Keenan Cornelius and Darragh O Conaill inevitably referred to their experiences with Lloyd Irvin and the BJJ Kumite, as those experiences are part of their personal BJJ journey. Had recent stories broken prior to publication we could have tried to make some editorial changes, but in essence our interviews were with the fighters themselves and we can only feature what they share with us at the time of the interview.

We have been supported magnificently by the BJJ community since JJS kicked off by our contributors, advertisers and all of you who enjoy the magazine enough to buy a copy. Those of you who know me personally will be aware that JJS is worlds apart from Graciemag in terms of our staffing levels and resources, but I’m passionate about what I do and about trying to bring you a quality magazine within the limitations of a bi-monthly publication.

Thanks again for the support.
