"Nothing is more valuable than your mental & overall health." - Gabriel Arges

The concept of doping within our sport is a hot topic right now, which was galvanised by the (now removed) instagram account @bjj_steriods at the World championships this year. We all know it’s a problem, but with little in the way of regulation currently being enforced, accommodating cheats may be something with have to stomach for years to come.

Gracie Barra’s Gabriel Arges recently took to Instagram, saying “Do I wish our sport was cleaner and most of my opponents were clean as well? I honestly don’t care. You have to look yourself in the mirror and see your true self.”

Refreshingly, Arges - who'c clean USADA test results can be seen in his carousel picture below - went on to stress his views on the importance of valuing hard work and mental health above all else: “To all those up and comers out there, don’t choose shortcuts; there’s nothing more important that your mental and overall health.”

The only middleweight to be tested in the 2019 Worlds with a few of other weight class champions too. Still your #1. Always tested, always clean. Do I wish our sport was cleaner and most of my opponents were clean as well? I honestly don’t care. At the end of the day you have to look yourself on the mirror and see your true self. I had many injuries in the past, this year I fought hurt in all my events but I knew I put in the work and I was worth the gold medal for the hours I still put in no matter what. Maybe that makes me a little bit hungrier. To all up and comers out there, don’t choose shortcuts, nothing is more valuable than your mental & overall health. If you put in the work and you deserve to win, your time will come. Don’t look around to see what other people are doing, do YOU. @everydayporrada ? #everydayporrada
