About Carlos

Carlos Diego was born and raised in the Amazon city of Manaus, Brazil. Growing up, Ferreira was involved in soccer, Capoeira and started training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at age 10 with longtime coach and mentor Faustino Piña Martins Neto. (Clube Piña) He fell in love with the sport and never looked back. He earned his black belt at age 18.

When he was 23, he decided to pursue his dreams of becoming a world-class fighter in the United States. He temporarily resided in California, where he began teaching and competing in local BJJ tournaments, he immediately started making a name for himself by winning multiple tournaments. In 2010, he slowly transitioned into the MMA scene and had his first MMA fight in California, which has still not been recorded, but Ferreira won via submission. In 2011, he moved to Texas, where he continued his MMA career and has fought with local promotions and quickly built his record to 6-0. Ferreira then signed a three-fight contract in 2012 with Legacy Fighting Championship. His first fight he scored a decision win over UFC veteran Carlo Prater and second fight, a decision win as well with unbeaten Chris Feist and Ferreira now stands 8-0. Next in line for Ferreira is Legacy FC 25, a Lightweight Title bout against Jorge “Macaco” Patino on November 15th.

He has also fought in just about every major BJJ organization through out the years including IBJJF, EUROPA Grappling, Worlds, Texas State Championships, Abu Dhabi Pro Trials, to name a few. With his recent first place finish in US Abu Dhabi World Pro Trials, where he is now qualified for the 2014 World Abu Dhabi Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championships. CDF has an extremely dangerous submission game. There are multiple videos of his grappling accomplishments online. Ferreira feels he has so much more in store for him as far as his Jiu Jitsu goes. His dreams are to become a world champion and he won’t stop till he gets there.

Team Ferreira Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

In addition to his fighting career, Ferreira has also established a well-known and growing BJJ academy, Team Ferreira Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Pharr, Texas. When he is not training out of town, he spends his day instructing and mentoring his students. BJJ is his passion and enjoys being at his school as much as he can. His goal is to continue growing and soon open more gyms around Texas.

Ferreira’s recent wins have definitely not gone unnoticed and is slowly making his way to the top. He believes the greatest tool to get there is his heart, will and desire. “If you don’t have heart, will and desire to train and fight to win, all the training in the world is worthless.” He wants to continue working hard and becoming the best fighter he can be. He believes only time and God can tell what is on the horizon for him.
