It was recently announced that longtime War Tribe sponsored athlete Levi Mowles would be taking his talents to the professional level in MMA. If nothing else, he’ll be going into this next phase of his career well-prepared and with a ton of momentum behind him. Already a BJJ brown belt at the age of 19, Levi turned over to MMA debuting as an amateur in May 2013. Little over a year since then and he’s amassed an 8-0 amateur record along with 2 title belts. He’s also taken on some seasoned opponents along the way. He’ll take on another one when he faces Houston’s Adrien Yanez at Legacy FC 37 in his pro debut. It’s the featured bout of the undercard and some are already billing it as a battle between the top bantamweight prospects from the Houston and Dallas areas respectively.

We recently caught up with Levi to get his thoughts on this latest step in his career:

Levi how does it feel turning pro?

Man it’s all just so surreal. It’s like it’s not even happening.  I’m just too excited and can’t wait to get in there and see the payoff from all this hard work.

Why is now the right time for you to make this step?

Well me and my coaches have seen the gains I’ve made in training and feel like I’m on that level so, why not? I just want to keep on moving forward. I want to test myself.

What are some of your goals at the next level?

You know, I really want to start my career out right, that’s why I signed with Legacy in the first place. I’m definitely looking to come out with a win in November but more than anything (my goal) is to just go in and put on a good show for everyone.

What goes into deciding on matchups and that sort of thing?

I pretty much let the matchmakers do their job and line up the opponents. I’ll just be there to knock them down like everyone else.

Where do you see yourself a year from now?

It’s hard to say, a years a long time. Hopefully somewhere in Legacy with a successful record on my way to the UFC.

Anybody you want to thank who’s helped you along the way?

I’d love to thank my coach Brandon Quick, my brothers in training, Johnny Bedford and Evan Cutts,  as well as my own Brother Garrett Mowles,  and the rest of the training fight team at Bquick Jiu Jitsu and F3 for getting me ready for fights and helping me train to get here. I want to thank all my friends and family for your love and support, and finally my sponsors for backing me on my way to bigger and better things: War Tribe Gear of course, Going Green AC & Heating, Style’s on Main, and Mike and Liz Garcia.
